Sunday Fun Day

Today, my husband decided to take the girls out for a treat while I stayed in bed and dreamt a bit more. Yay! Daddy took them out for a treat, then to their favorite park. Lilly ran, climbed and jumped. The heat didn’t bother her, however, our little fashionista, Hannah, perturbed by her sweaty hair and clothes, was ready to call it quits. If we’d allow Lilly to stay out all day, she would. As soon as they got home she asked for a bath. When she was ready to get out, I grabbed the usual attire, one of her many pairs of soft comfortable, tag-less pajamas. After she was dressed, she laid herself down on my bed and asked me to rub her back (like I always do). As a parent of a child with sensory challenges, I’ve learned, it soothes her. It is her “normal”. With a day of strenuous activities, a change in temperature, a day at school, a trip to Target…she needs her “normal”.
